Robert Pattinson is hot as Twilight's vampire Edward Cullen, but he's also amazing as Jacob in Water For Elephants.
In a behind-the-scenes interview, the film's director Francis Lawrence reveals why he had to have Robert for the role of a 23-year-old student who decides to become a vet in a travelling circus after his parents are killed.
'When we started looking for people to play Jacob,' Francis, 41, explains, 'it was really tricky because a lot of guys that age still really felt like boys to me.
'We realised [Rob] understands the vulnerabilities and complexities of the character.'
The gorgeous actor didn't only impress the director, his co-star Reese Witherspoon, 35, also gives him a glowing review.
'Jacob has a lot of conflict,' she says. 'Rob had a very thoughtful way of conveying that.
