'Abduction' director John Singleton praises Taylor Lautner
This morning, MTV has released a new interview (video attached) with Abduction director John Singleton in which he speaks out about what fans should expect to see from Taylor Lautner in the film as well as his experience working with Lautner.
"Taylor’s the most famous actor I’ve ever worked with in my whole career. When we were shooting this movie, we had at least five to six hundred girls and their mothers like off the set, trying to get on the set, trying to be around and everything . . . it was really funny because after we worked all these hours, he’d go out and graciously shake these people’s hands and sign autographs . . . he’s a trooper."

'Abduction' Star Tim Griffin Impressed By Taylor Lautner's 'Normalness' In Midst Of Fan Hysteria
We all know that the "Twilight" cast members create varying levels of fan hysteria wherever they go. Especially the big three (i.e. Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner). But according to Taylor's "Abduction" costar Tim Griffin, whom we caught up with at the "Kung Fu Panda 2" premiere recently, the 19-year-old actor takes it all in stride. (No surprise there!)
"Taylor's great. I've done a couple movies with George Clooney, and I thought that was the highest level of fame I could ever experience," Tim explained. "With Taylor, it's that level with a hysteria that goes along with it and he handles it beautifully. He's a real solid, feet-on-the-ground-type kid, so it was very exciting to work with him."
And Tim didn't just hear about; he witnessed the throngs of adoring fans firsthand.
"People lining up outside our basecamp for days at a time, that was news to me," he said. "I've worked with Matt Damon and 'Bourne' and all of those things and it was, like I say, it was a level of hysteria I've not [experienced.] I did a movie with Chris Weitz called 'A Better Life,' and he directed 'New Moon' and we were talking about it and he said the same thing. Those kids, for what they're being cast into, are really spectacular for their normalness."

Director John Singleton Talks ‘Abduction’ & Taylor Lautner
In an interview with Black Film John Singleton talks about his latest film ‘Abduction’ and Taylor Lautner.
It’s Taylor’s first lead role (outside of the ‘Twilight’ films) and a chance to show some range.
JS: It’s Taylor’s chance to really flex. The excitement about this is everyone loves this kid! But they don’t really know what he’s totally capable of doing. They don’t know he was a martial arts champion at the age of eleven. And that he’s physical. And that he’s actually funny. And that he’s charismatic and I was thinking they could see the potential in the ‘Twilight’ pictures then this is just like just letting it loose.
What did you do differently that would make him grow as an actor.
JS: What I did was really just brought him into my circle and have him really relax. We just watched movies together and talked about acting and I wanted him to see how there are people in the past that have been in the position that he’s like James Dean and Tom Cruise and young actors who evolved into young adulthood and the decisions that they make. And then we start just talking about the character. And he relaxed enough to improv for the first time. No one ever asked him to do these things. What’s amazing is that everyone doesn’t see how brilliant he is at his age at just picking up stuff. He’ll come and say, ‘I want to try something.’ And he never had a chance to do that. People just wanted him to look good. They didn’t want him to flex and do different stuff.
Lionsgate has filmed a few films set in Pittsburgh like ‘My Bloody Valentine 3-D,’ ‘Next Three Days’ and the upcoming ‘Warrior.’ How was shooting there for this movie?
JS: It was great. It was awesome. I got a chance to go to the Steelers and Pirates games. That’s all I did. I went to the Steelers’ openers and a lot of Pirates games and stuff. We shot a huge sequence during the baseball game. That was the first time I ever done that, with almost 30,000 spectators there. So I had six, seven cameras, three units, and jumping from one side of the fence into the next with Taylor doing the action while trying to make sure people weren’t taking pictures of us. Every day on the set there’s at least five, six hundred girls way off that were trying to hide out of the shot. And Taylor goes, ‘Shh, no. Be quiet, we’re trying to do this.’ The cool thing about him is pretty much every day or every other day when we shot new scenes he’d go out after work, after working all those hours. And he’d go shake everybody’s hand and take pictures and everything. I told him one time, ‘That’s what it takes.’ I also said to him, ‘You probably don’t even know who Jackie Wilson but you know who Michael Jackson was. My parents looked up to Jackie Wilson because Jackie Wilson had a theory. He would go and shake hands with everybody, take pictures with everybody regardless of who they were. And that’s what he became famous and sustained as long as he did.’ And Taylor did that.
In looking at the trailer there’s a little bit of ‘Bourne’ in this movie. With ‘Salt,’ ‘Unknown,’ and ‘Hanna,’ we’re getting a trend of that type of film. How much or little of ‘Bourne’ is in this movie.
JS: The only thing that’s in this film and in ‘Bourne’ is an espionage element. This is more like, maybe kind of like dangerous. He’s in high school not really knowing who he is. He’s forced into a life and death situation. In the ‘Bourne’ pictures that guy was a trained killer. This guy is just a high school kid who has had a little bit of physical training. But he’s up against people who are trained killers. So there’s a lot of jeopardy there.
What kept you from saying yes to the other films that you may have been offered before taking on this project?
JS: Because a lot of stuff was really corny. And then at the moment I may have thought, ‘Yeah’. I was working on ‘the A-Team’ at one time. And I decided not to do that picture because they were trying to make a foreign movie. So there was a lot of different big movies that I was a part of that went down.

First ‘Abduction’ Trailer with Taylor Lautner
MTV News proudly presents the trailer for “Abduction,” Taylor’s incoming action movie from director John Singleton. Taylor himself gave you your first look at the trailer during MTV First: Taylor Lautner earlier tonight, and now it’s here, waiting for you to watch it over and over again.

So, what did you think? We’ve seen Lautner in action before as Jacob Black in the “Twilight” series, but never quite like this. This is full-tilt combat, with massive explosions and rapid-fire gunplay tearing through sets and characters as easily as a knife cuts through butter. For his part, Taylor more than holds his own in the thick of battle. We get to see the occasional werewolf in full martial arts mode towards the end of the trailer, where Taylor engages an enemy in hand-to-hand combat, and it’s definitely a side of him we haven’t seen before — a side that we like very much, by the way!

Spotted: Taylor Lautner Arriving at LAX with Lily Collins
Taylor Lautner was spotted arriving at LAX the other night, and he certainly wasn't alone!
The Twilight star has been hibernating in Baton Rouge, La., and flew home with girlfriend Lily Collins in tow earlier this week.
Taylor Lautner and Lily Collins were spotted after what seems like months of hiding when they were snapped getting off a late night flight at LAX Feb. 12. Even though they had been traveling for hours, the two of course looked picture perfect in matching leather jackets.
Taylor has of course been hard at work on Breaking Dawn in Baton Rouge and it appears his lady love has been spending a good deal of time with him while he is busy on set.
The two, who met on the set of Abduction, seem to be doing better than ever. Despite the age difference between 21-year-old Lily and 19-year-old Taylor, these two are definitely for real. It is nice to see, given the heartbreak Taylor experienced over his last relationship with singer Taylor Swift.
Taylor made a brief appearance at the People’s Choice Awards Jan. 5, but prior to that had not been seen out since early November!

‘Abduction’ Still Shows Taylor Lautner Protecting Lily Collins
Lily Collins is easily one of the hottest young actresses in Hollywood, and we’re pretty it’s largely guilt by association seeing as all of her upcoming male costars are studs! First, she stars alongside exciting—albeit older—men like Stephen Moyer, Cam Gigandet and Paul Bettany in “Priest.” But let’s look a bit further down the road. In September (so far away!), Lily will go on the run with “Twilight” hottie Taylor Lautner in the thriller “Abduction,” and word on the street is that Alex Pettyfer might play Jace Wayland opposite Lily’s Clary Fray in the upcoming “City of Bones” adaptation.
It’s nice to finally see how these two work together as a couple. I’m going to go so far as to say Lily is Taylor’s most evenly matched costar in terms of looks and ability (sorry, KStew and Taylor Swift). Granted, we only have a slightly out-of-focus still to go on, but I totally buy the two of them together.
