Glamour mag analyses evolution of style of Kristen over the years
She's the crown princess of grungy, tomboy chic - see exactly why GLAMOUR.com hearts Twilight star Kristen Stewart via her epic Style EvolutionA fresh-faced Kristen Stewart makes her red carpet debut at the premiere of Panic Room in 2002. Was she taking fashion tips from a young Angelina Jolie?
It was another dress-down day at the premiere of Cold Creek Manor in 2003. At a tender 13 years old, Kristen was already eschewing dresses and carving her own red carpet style niche – though this vanilla jeans and shirt duo falls flat.Honey, honey! Kristen may have dressed as a bank manager-come-festival goer for an appearance at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2005 but fortunately for her, her immaculate barely-there make-up and superstar hair drag this look into a marginally better place, style-wise.
All hail the first appearance of the red carpet Converse! The jeans are skinnier, the top is tighter, and there a hoodie – not to mention a smile – in the mix at the LA premiere of Zathura in 2005. Baby steps.
At the premiere of Into The Wild in 2007 we get our first glimpse of lady-like Kristen in a Rodarte dress with Michael Kors pumps. She looks surprisingly comfortable; perhaps blondes really do have more fun?
Full-length yet not quite fabulous in J. Mendel at the 2008 Screen Actors Guild Award. We’ve no doubt that that gown is gorgeous, but it drowns Kristen’s petite frame – she looks like she’s clinging onto that clutch for safety.
...Yet there was a glimmer of hope on fashion’s bright horizon in the shape of this belter of a look, which Kristen rocked to the MTV awards six months later. It flatters her figure perfectly, and those heels with the cropped trouser length look uber-slick. Nice one!
Kristen plays dot to dot in her spotted cocktail dress back in 2008, which turned out to be the first best-dressed-list look of many for our current favourite girl crush.
Never one for accessory overload, Kristen goes back to basics in this little puffball La Perla dress for the London premiere of Twilight.
Converse on the red carpet? You bet! We saluted Kristen as she ditched the traditional ankle-breaking 4-inchers and paired flats with her funky Yigal Azrouël cocktail dress at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards.
Mullet aside (she had to cut it for a film role, people), the GLAMOUR.com team were digging Kristen’s gothic look at a Twilight New Moon photocall in Madrid; this leather Elizabeth and James dress and fabulous red Christian Louboutin pumps do a perfect red carpet match make.
We get the feeling she’d rather be slouching it in ripped jeans and sneakers, but we give Kristen a big thumbs up for this J.Mendel strapless dress and Serigio Rossi peep-toe heels all the same.
Championing her own couldn’t-care-less style, Kristen heads to singing lessons (for her role as Joan Jett in rock biopic The Runaways) wearing a cropped t-shirt and skinny denim.
A navy striped Camilla & Marc dress and a pair of Mary-Janes let Kristen show off her perfect pins. Tousled hair adds an über-cool finishing touch at a Twilight photocall in Paris.Rocking 7 For All Mankind jeans for an appearance on the Late Show – who says you gotta dress up for TV?
It’s a classic bandage dress with a quirky twist for Twilight’s leading lady on The Conan O’Brien show, in this Hervé Léger by Max Azria number.
We never thought we’d see the day! While we rate her dishevelled persona, Kristen got a big thumbs up from the GLAMOUR.com girls as she ditched the trademark scruff we so love and scrubbed up red carpet-style in this Oscar de la Renta tulle gown at the Twilight Saga New Moon world premiere in LA.
Kristen cemented her presence in the fashion sphere with this wow-worthy appearance at Burberry’s autumn/winter 2010 show at London Fashion Week.
Check that bouff! Kudos to Kristen for ditching the Joan Jett jeans and instead scrubbing up like the stunning young starlet she is in a hot pink Doo-Ri dress and Jimmy Choos for the premiere of The Runaways.
Remember the J.Mendel dress that Kristen wore to the 2008 SAGs? Here she is getting that look right – this time, in Monique Lhuillier, plus a gloriously youthful dishevelled up-do.
Rocking Chanel Couture at the 2010 Met Ball. And when we say rocking, we mean rocking. All is forgiven.
That’s more like it! Wowing the crowds in Dolce & Gabbana at MTV Movie Awards in 2010.
Kristen owned the red carpet at the premiere of Eclipse in Rome in this voluminously embellished Marchesa cocktail dress. We love!
Taking the LBD to new heights in RM by Roland Mouret at a screening of Eclipse in NYC. We wish Kristen would opt for such dramatic make-up and hair looks more often... Like, seriously. Wow.
Another winning Valentino look, at a screening for Welcome To The Rileys in October 2010. Check that red lip!
Kristen came full circle from her rock chick roots at the recent MTV Movie Awards in Balmain – the ultimate label for heavy metal. The wild hair, that smoky eye... That attitude. Our girl's all grown up - and can't wait to see what she does next.
