On the Road Coming to America Via IFC Films/Sundance Selects

The 2012 Cannes Film Festival remains a week away, but the wheeling and dealing is already underway — and probably not coincidentally, for competition films starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Last week it was Pattinson's edgy David Cronenberg collaboration Cosmopolis going to E One, and tonight it's Stewart's long-awaited Jack Kerouac adaptation On the Road — just announced as the proud acquisition of IFC Films and Sundance

Audio:MyAnna Buring (Tanya D) Says Rob is a Sweet and Lovely Guy

Taylor talks about Kristen. "When she gets nervous, she gets shy and quiet" Lautner can seem like the most self-assured of the "Twilight" bunch -- smiling and waving to fans on the promotional circuit -- while co-stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart can appear more uncomfortable in the limelight. "Everybody handles it in a different way," he said of the attention. Plus, he insists, he's not always the laid-back one. In 2010, when he and Stewart presented an Oscar at that year's Academy Awards, it was his costar who had to calm a jittery Lautner down. "For Kristen, when she gets nervous, she gets shy and quiet -- and I find it very cute. And then I think I over-exaggerate with smiling and laughing," he said. "The only thing I can remember about presenting at the Oscars is we were up on the stage, and I could literally feel my pulse, like, through my neck. And Kristen was just like, 'It's gonna be OK, just breathe.' .

Kristen Stewart mentioned by “One the Road” screenwriter Jose Rivera and Goth Rocker Peter Murphy

Looks like Kristen Stewart has some fans out there. In 2 separate interview, On the Road screenwriter and Goth rocker Peter Murphy had this to say about Kristen :
Jose Rivera, ‘On The Road’ Scriptwriter talks about Kristen and her character, Marylou :
“Kristen Stewart plays Marylou, and she’s really the female lead of the film. She’s the only woman that goes on the journey with the guys and is sassy and crazy in her own way. One of the great things that we had, before the film was shot, was Marylou’s actual daughter, Anne Marie, was part of production. She and Kristen spent a lot of time together talking about her mom and stuff like that.”
Peter Murphy, a famous English rock musician and goth icon who had a cameo in Eclipse as the ‘Cold One’ said the following :

How would Jack Karouac feel about Kristen Stewart in 'On the Road'

Kristen Stewart filmed On the Road last summer, a film based on the famed novel by
Jack Karouac, now deceased. So how would the author feel about Kristen playing
Marylou in the film version? Karouac ’ s biographer Dennis McNally says that Stewart is pretty much spot on. While some have questioned the casting choices, others think director Walter
Salles was spot-on in picking Stewart, Hedlund and Riley to play Kerouac ’ s iconic characters. “ Well, the irony of it all is that Marylou [Stewart's character] was about 17 in ‘ On the Road,’ and Kristen Stewart kind of looks like what I imagine she looked like, ” says Dennis McNally, Grateful Dead historian and author of ‘ Desolation Angel ,’ the definitive Kerouac biography. “ I met Salles, the filmmaker. He was doing a lot of advance research. And while ‘ On the Road’ as a film project always seemed jinxed to me — ['Godfather' director Francis Ford] Coppola’ s been trying to make it since the 1970s — I wish him well. ”

Kristen Stewart, Garrett Hedlund in Hot New Road Photos

If Kristen Stewart is looking to break away from her “Twilight” character Bella Swan, she may have found the perfect vehicle in “On the Road,” her new movie about ’50s beat writer Jack Kerouac. She sizzles in new stills with Garrett Hedlund.

A number of directors are jockeying to land Stewart for their projects after she wraps up shooting on “Breaking Dawn,” Part 1 and Part 2, the last two films in the “Twilight” series with Robert Pattinson.

Stewart is reportedly set to star in “Snow White and the Huntsman,” possibly with Viggo Mortensen (“The Road”) and Oscar winner Charlize Theron as the wicked queen.

“On the Road,” with Hedlund playing Dean Moriarty and Sam Riley as Sal Paradise, a fictionalized version of Kerouac, is about Kerouac’s travels with his friends that doubles as an examination of ’50s era society.

The book helped inspire the Beat Generation, which laid the groundwork for the 1960s counterculture

Garrett Hedlund talks about Kristen Stewart

Garrett Hedlund co-stars with Kristen Stewart in On the Road, and he recently dished to Marc Malkinon their smooching scenes, as well as when we might see the film hit theaters.

As y’all know, Kristen Stewart stars in the Walter Salles-directed film opposite Country Strong’s hunk of hotness Garrett Hedlund. The two do lock lips in the flick. “There’s a few,” Hedlund tells me of his and K.Stew’s more intimate scenes.

However, what will make the cut is anybody’s guess. Hedlund insists, “Walter didn’t even watch dailies while we were filming,” he says. “You know, there just wasn’t the budget for it. We just kept pushing forward and pushing forward.”

So when will we see the movie? “I think the end of the year or early next year,” he divulges
