'Abduction' director John Singleton praises Taylor Lautner

This morning, MTV has released a new interview (video attached) with Abduction director John Singleton in which he speaks out about what fans should expect to see from Taylor Lautner in the film as well as his experience working with Lautner.

"Taylor’s the most famous actor I’ve ever worked with in my whole career. When we were shooting this movie, we had at least five to six hundred girls and their mothers like off the set, trying to get on the set, trying to be around and everything . . . it was really funny because after we worked all these hours, he’d go out and graciously shake these people’s hands and sign autographs . . . he’s a trooper."

Given the fact that Singleton has worked with the likes of Mark Wahlberg, Garrett Hedlund, Terrence Howard, Sofia Vergara, Eva Mendes, Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Tyra Banks, Jennifer Connelly, and many, many others over the course of his directorial career, him saying Lautner is the most famous of all is something.

Singleton explained that Taylor Lautner's many fans will see a little something new from him in Abduction than they have in the Twilight Saga.

"They're gonna see a whole different Taylor Lautner from what Jacob is in the Twilight pictures . . . My goal as a director was to work with him as an actor, for him to have something that's a different character that’s strong and charismatic . . . and of course I’ve done some stuff that I'm sure all the young ladies will really love, and it's beyond taking his shirt off. It's about him having a different kind of swag than he does as Jacob. In this movie, he's . . . Nathan Harper and he's just a kickass dude in this movie."

Lautner will be appearing at Comic-Con in support of Abduction (as well as The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1) this July, and the film hits theaters on September 23rd.
