Chris Weitz: 'I was the Ringo Starr of Twilight: New Moon'
New Moon director Chris Weitz has revealed that he felt like the Ringo Starr of the Twilight franchise.
The A Better Life filmmaker, who helmed the second movie in the vampire romance franchise, suggested that the fan hysteria created by stars Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart was akin to Beatlemania.

Weitz told Digital Spy that the amount of screaming from Twilight fans will "haunt him forever".
"I remember going to the Munich Olympic Stadium and there were 23,000 young women screaming. It wasn't for me, I was only the Ringo Starr at best of the whole quadruplet that was travelling," he said.
The director also recalled being unable to go to the bathroom during filming in a small Italian town because the location was overrun with fans of Stephenie Meyer's fantasy saga.
"When we were shooting our final four days in Montepulciano in Italy, because it was known that we were shooting there every day, thousands and thousands more young girls would show up - until the point where the streets were jammed, we couldn't get our equipment from one location to another," he explained.
"I couldn't go to the loo because every cafe, every restaurant was just packed. So I just held it!"

Chris Weitz talks 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' and 'A Better Life'
The Twilight Saga: New Moon director Chris Weitz's A Better Life premiered last night at the L.A. Film Festival, but before hitting the red carpet, he stopped to talk to a few Twilight sites about his film. The full transcript for the interview is below:
Q: How were you able to get such amazing emotions out of the actors, especially [Jose Julian] – I just read on his page that he’s never done anything like this before. The movie’s so powerful; how did you get the actors to portray that on-screen?
Chris Weitz: Well, I mean Demian Bichir is a big actor in Mexico. He’s been in many movies; he’s incredibly technically accomplished and a brilliant actor so that was never in doubt for me. Of course, when you’re starting with a newcomer, you don’t really know what you’re going to get, but I think the thing that we managed to do was to schedule it so that the scenes which he was being a difficult teen and kind of a pain in the butt were early on, which is kind of easier for a sixteen-year-old actor to go to, and then the more emotional scenes, by the time we got around to shooting that, he had lived in our little circus for you know a couple of months. He had learned from Demian; he had learned how to focus; he had been through all this thinking about things, and so that helped him. And of course acting with Demian when he’s delivering that sort of final speech in the detention center, I would find it hard not to convey a hell of a lot of emotion myself.

Chris Weitz Talks About the Ups and Downs of the Post New Moon Experience
“New Moon” was all about getting back on the horse for me and working with some very talented people – Kristen Stewart, Alexandre DesPlat, the great Spanish cinematographer Javier Aguirresarobe. I wanted to make a lush widescreen romance out of a ‘tweener phenomenon and I knew the audience would come. I would say, “They’re expecting a cheeseburger, but I’m going to give them foie gras.
Such is the naiveté of late-early-middle age. The restaurant critics were not supportive. Nonetheless, I was able to compose hybrid real-action and CGI sequences on a grand scale, create sheer cliffs and raging seas from pixels, and transform people into horse-sized wolves at the side of the legendary Phil Tippett.

Twilight “ Eclipse” soundtrack goes Gold
According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the “ Twilight Saga: Eclipse ” Original Soundtrack has gone Gold. The album, featuring artists such as Muse, The Black Keys, and Vampire Weekend was originally
released in June of 2010 and won Gold certification in December. Though the soundtrack follows in the footsteps of its predecessors, the honor was
slower to arrive for “ The Twilight Saga: Eclipse ” . “ The Twilight Saga: New Moon ” soundtrack went Platinum just one month after its release. The “ Twilight ” soundtrack also went Platinum within a month of its release before going Double Platinum some
four months later. Still to come is a soundtrack for “ The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn ” , though it is unclear as to how or whether a soundtrack will be split into two in alignment with the movies.

New Moon Inspired Stevie Nicks for her album song
According to the press release for her new album called In
Your Dreams, Stevie Nicks was inspired by New Moon! Rock ‘ n Roll’ s reigning queen Stevie Nicks will be releasing her highly anticipated new CD “ In Your Dreams ” on May 3rd, it was announced today by Reprise Records. This will be Nicks ’ first CD of new material since the release of her Grammy nominated “ Trouble in Shangri-La” ten years ago. “ In Your Dreams ” was written and recorded at Nicks ’ Los Angeles home and is co-produced by Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard. Nicks and Stewart
co-wrote seven of the album ’ s thirteen songs. “ I had written a song in Brisbane, Australia when I was on tour with Fleetwood Mac in 2009 called ‘ Moonlight — A Vampire ’ s Dream’ which was inspired by the ‘ New Moon’ film. When I finished writing that song, which came together really quickly, I knew the time was right to start recording. We had a core group of five people who
were at the heart of the creation of ‘ In Your Dreams. ’ Dave and myself, my longtime friend and musical director, Waddy Wachtel, and my girls, Sharon Celani and Lori

New Moon: One of most downloaded films of December
The LA Times reports that the sale of digital movie downloads was up 40% in 2010 and that New Moon was one of the biggest digital downloads (via iTunes) in December, 2010.
Although there are no industrywide charts for digital downloads, Apple reported in December that the most popular movies of the year on iTunes were, in order, “The Hurt Locker,” “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” “Hot Tub Time Machine,” “Iron Man 2″ and “Zombieland,” according to CNET News.
Doesn’t it seem strange that there is no industry-wide measurement of digital downloads of movies (legal downloads, that is). Seems like the industry is missing out on some majorly huge data!

New/Old Volvo for ‘Breaking Dawn’?
How do you all feel about the car used in Breaking Dawn?
In Twilight, Edward (Robert Pattinson) drove a silver C30 coupe. While this wasn’t what Stephenie Meyer had chosen (she actually picked the S60R), the Twilight coupe was close enough to the book’s description to melt into the storyline.
Then, in The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Edward’s “stupid shiny [silver] Volvo” became a smoke gray SUV, the XC60 Crossover.
Since The Twilight Saga: Eclipse was filmed before New Moon came out, the same car was used during production before fans really got the chance to speak up in protest. According to FoForks, the Eclipse SUV was spotted at a car show recently. While it’s not certain this was the Volvo, it was promoted with Eclipse insignia and the like, so it’s not certain it wasn’t. Whether or not it was the car from the movie, it draws up the question – will Breaking Dawn give us a new one?

Twilight recreated with legos
Click here to see Lego recreations of Harry Potter's Quidditch showdown against Slytherin nemesis Draco Malfoy, a spot-on rendering of Edward, Bella and Jacob in the "Twilight: New Moon" poster, and a Arthur's (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) gravity-defying fight scene in "Inception." Kind of gives new meaning to the term "block-buster."
Other films that have been the subject of Eylar's incredible Lego homages are "Die Hard," "Tron: Legacy," "American Beauty," "James Bond," "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark," "The Shining," "A Clockwork Orange," "Reservoir Dogs," "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," "Back To The Future," "Inglorious Basterds," "Raging Bull," "Silence of the Lambs," "The Addams Family," "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly," "2001: A Space Odyssey," "The Exorcist," "Psycho" and "Mission Impossible."
Once created, Eylar uses light and smoke to add an air of realism to the tableau, photographs them and then tears them down. That's right, he disassembles each and every one. As Eylar tells Pacific Coast News, "I can't afford to keep them built -- I need the pieces."
