Kristen Stewart Emerges As Web's Top Star This Week

After steering clear from the spotlight while tucked away on the set of “Breaking Dawn” for the past few months, Kristen Stewart emerged from hiding to garner the top spot of the latest Gossip Center Hot 45 List while outperforming fellow popularity-grabbing stars including runner-up Lady Gaga and third place finisher Cameron Diaz.

As for Stewart’s Hot 45 List triumph, the Bella Swan beauty’s appearance at the Costume Institute Gala honoring late designer Alexander McQueen was just what her die-hard fans were looking for – with Internet activity reaching a peak as her red carpet arrival photos hit the web. Padding her numbers, Kristen sparked a frenzy of tweets later in the week upon being snapped by paparazzi as she left her NYC hotel while joined by an oh-so-adorable, newly-adopted canine companion.

Following closely behind was the always-intriguing Lady Gaga, who nabbed second place on the Hot 45 List after building up anticipation before unveiling her latest music video creation, “Judas”.

Of the artistic offering, the 25-year-old said, “Well, I want to allow the video to speak for itself but I will say that the theme of the video and the way that I wanted to aesthetically portray the story was as a motorcycle Fellini movie where the apostles are revolutionaries in a modern-day Jerusalem. And I play Mary Magdalene leading them into the town where we meet Jesus and I will leave the rest for you to see. But it’s meant more to celebrate faith than it is to challenge it.”

Gaga also paid a visit to the “Oprah Winfrey Show” to perform for the soon-to-be-retired daytime talk show host.
Rounding out the Hot 45 List top three was timeless Hollywood mainstay Cameron Diaz, as the 38-year-old was able to catch the public’s attention with a sexy spread in the new issue of Maxim magazine while also adorning the cover of the June 2011 issue of Cosmopolitan. During her Maxim interview, Diaz chatted about the institution of marriage, as she said, “I think we have to make our own rules. I don’t think we should live our lives in relationships based off old traditions that don’t suit our world any longer. I think a lot of people are married to people they’re not romantic with anymore. I just didn’t ever marry anybody that I then had to get divorced from. We break up. We move on.”

When it comes to the big movers of the week, Mariah Carey saw the largest rise in Hot 45 List ranking – as the new mom leapt from #167 all the way to #11 thanks to the weekend arrival of her baby twins. The “Glitter” gal and husband Nick Cannon later revealed that they’ve named their son Moroccan Scott Cannon and their daughter Monroe Cannon – with Mimi calling the bundles of joy “the most incredible gifts we could ever have imagined!”

Joining Miss Carey as a hot item over the past seven days was “Superman” actor Henry Cavill, who saw in his very first top twenty finish upon word that he’s gotten engaged to marry British show jumping rider girlfriend Ellen Whitaker. Of the exciting news, Miss Whitaker joyously said, "I couldn't believe it when he asked me to marry him. I thought we were there to celebrate his birthday. It was such a surprise and I am so happy."

And while Mariah and Henry both were on the up and up, expecting actress Kate Hudson saw her star fade as she plummeted from second place all the way to 118th on the Gossip Center Hot 45 List. While she’s still promoting her soon-to-be-released movie “Something Borrowed,” it seems as if the public had their fill of Miss Hudson the previous week – a stretch in which she announced her engagement to Muse rocker Matthew Bellamy during an appearance on the “Today” show.
